Today is World Mental Health Day, and there’s some Today is World Mental Health Day, and there’s something I think we still get very wrong.

We have this idea of what someone struggling with their mental health looks like. Withdrawn, quiet, unable to function. And sometimes that’s true. But sometimes it’s the person who’s always laughing, showing up and seemingly has their shit together.

And sometimes that person is me.

I’ve spoken openly about having bipolar disorder. It’s something I’ve lived with for years, but it certainly isn’t ALL of who I am. I’m a wife, a mum, a business owner, a friend and someone who loves a concert, a musical and, as anyone who knows me will confirm, is rarely short of something to say. 😂

But here’s something I really want people to understand.

Not every difficult period in my life is because I have bipolar. Sometimes life is just bloody hard. I’m allowed to be angry, upset, excited, ambitious and passionate without those emotions automatically being attributed to a diagnosis.

I’m a human being first.

Over the last two years, I’ve been finding my way back to myself after a period that left me feeling completely lost. I’ve rebuilt my confidence and learned to trust myself again. But finding myself doesn’t mean my bipolar has disappeared, just as having bipolar doesn’t mean I’m constantly struggling.

And looking after your mental health isn’t always as simple as a bubble bath or positive thinking. Sometimes it involves treatment, support and a lot of work that nobody sees.

I don’t want people to see my diagnosis before they see me. But I won’t hide it either, because someone reading this might be frightened that admitting they have a mental health condition will change how people see them.

So please don’t assume that because someone is smiling, they’re fine. But equally, don’t assume that because someone has a mental health condition, they’re not.

You can be strong and still need support. You can live with bipolar and still build an incredible life.

Those things are not mutually exclusive. ❤️

I have a slightly unusual rule in my free business I have a slightly unusual rule in my free business Facebook group.

You're allowed to sell.

Shocking, I know.

Every Saturday is Sell It Saturday, when members are actively encouraged to tell us about their offers, what they do, who they help and how somebody can buy from them.

Because I find it slightly bizarre that we can spend all week talking about growing our businesses and then suddenly act as though mentioning the thing that actually makes us money is terribly inappropriate.

Now, that doesn't mean the group is one enormous promotional dumping ground. Far from it. Throughout the rest of the week we're taking action, sharing tips, celebrating wins, following up, asking questions and having actual conversations.

But on Saturday?

Sell the bloody thing.

Learning to talk confidently about your offer is part of running a business, and I want you to have somewhere you can actually practise doing it without worrying that you're going to be told off for being “too promotional”.

If you'd like to join a business group where doing business isn't strangely forbidden, come in.

Someone in DONE. has already made £4k. And we've o Someone in DONE. has already made £4k. And we've only just got started. 🎉

Now, before anyone thinks I've invented some magical programme that makes money appear in your bank account, I haven't. 😂

But what I HAVE created is something that tackles one of the biggest problems I see in online businesses.

The gap between knowing what you need to do and actually getting it DONE.

Because most business owners I meet aren't short of knowledge. They've bought the courses, attended the masterclasses, downloaded the templates and filled notebooks with ideas.

What they're missing isn't another strategy. It's the structure, focus and support to actually implement the things they've already learned.

And that's exactly why I created DONE.

90 days of turning all that knowledge into action, with five focused priorities each week across Money, Visibility and Structure.

No enormous to-do lists that make you want to hide under the duvet. No spending another three months learning what you should be doing.

Just deciding what matters, doing the work, reviewing what's happening and making adjustments as you go.

And when you get stuck because you don't know HOW to do something, you've got me there to help.

Because I can't make somebody implement, but I can make sure I'm not the reason they're stuck.

Here's what I want you to think about.

It's Friday. You could spend this weekend telling yourself that Monday will be different, just like you did last weekend.

OR you could join DONE. today, make your plan and start next week knowing exactly what you're working towards.

Then imagine what could happen if you kept that momentum going for the next 90 days.

You don't have to wait until January to start building a business that actually works.

Your 90 days start when you do.

💗 Comment DONE and I'll send you the details.
Sometimes a 60-second Reel isn't going to cut it. Sometimes a 60-second Reel isn't going to cut it. 😂

There are some things in business that I can explain in a quick post or video, but there are plenty of others where telling you what you should do without giving you the time to understand how to actually do it isn't particularly useful.

And I think there's already quite enough content online telling business owners what they should be doing.

Build a funnel. Grow your email list. Automate this. Create that. Follow up with your leads. Sort your systems out.

Lovely.

HOW? 😂

That's one of the reasons I love YouTube, because I can actually sit down and explain something properly. I can show you what I mean, talk through why it matters and give you something useful to take away rather than trying to squeeze an entire business strategy into a Reel before the music runs out.

I've now got a whole library of videos covering funnels, systems, email marketing, automation and generally how to make your business make more sense, and I'm adding new videos regularly.

So if you like my content here but sometimes find yourself thinking, “Okay Shelly, but HOW do I actually do that?”, you probably want to come and find me on YouTube too.

And while you're there, hit subscribe because we're getting VERY close to 1,000 subscribers and I would quite like to get the bloody thing over the line. 😂
